Photography was my entry point into the creative world and remains the foundation of my practice. I began taking photos in the early 2000s with a Nokia flip phone—initially as a way to document moments and express myself. That curiosity evolved into blogging, where I paired imagery with reflections on music, culture, and inspiration. Those early explorations led to my first professional opportunities shooting nightlife and events in Toronto, giving me an early understanding of pace, people, and storytelling.

Creativity has always surrounded me. My upbringing was shaped by fashion, music, and self-expression—my mother’s style, my father’s love for sound, and the influence of family members immersed in beauty, hip-hop culture, and R&B. These influences informed how I see the world and ultimately how I frame it. Dance, music, and visual culture became second nature, all of which continue to inform my photographic sensibility.

As I found my own voice, ’90s hip-hop and R&B heavily influenced the mood and energy of my work. Studying photography in high school gave me technical grounding, but more importantly, it gave me identity. I learned to be resourceful—building makeshift studios, lighting with construction lamps, and editing images to match what I envisioned. Sharing this work online helped me build community and confidence behind the camera.

A pivotal moment came after watching City of God, where color, emotion, and perspective converged through the eyes of a photographer. That film solidified my relationship with color and narrative-driven imagery. From there, my practice matured through client work, mentorship, and acceptance into The Remix Project, where I refined my professionalism and long-term vision.

My work has since been exhibited in Toronto and New York, includes a solo exhibition (STILLS), and has taken me to major cultural moments such as NBA All-Star Weekend. While my goal of becoming a respected photographer within my community has been realized, my focus remains forward—continuing to create thoughtful, culturally grounded imagery for brands, artists, and stories that resonate.
